Is death final?


Yes, death is final.


This day I [Joshua] am going the way of all the earth. Joshua 23:14


As the cloud is consumed and vanishes away, so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. Job 7:9





But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? ... So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep ... If a man die, shall he live again? Job 14:10-14





Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung. Job 20:7





For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? Psalm 6:5

No, there will be a resurrection from the dead.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. Ezekiel 37:12





And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:1

Are the laws of the Old Testament still binding?


Yes, they are binding forever.


The laws are an everlasting covenant, for a thousand generations, always and forever.


Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9


Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway. Deuteronomy 11:1





These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe ... all the days that ye live upon the earth. Deuteronomy 12:1





Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations ... an everlasting covenant. 1 Chronicles 16:15





Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth. Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever. Psalm 119:151-2





Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalm 119:160





God will curse you if you don't obey his commandments.


Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 11:26-28


Keeping the commandments is the whole duty of every human.


Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13


And of the saints.


The saints ... are they that keep the commandments of God. Revelation 14:12





Remember (and obey) the law of Moses.


Remember ye the law of Moses. Malachi 4:4


Jesus instructed his followers to obey all of the commandments.


Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or tittle shall nowise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:18-19


It is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Luke 16:17





One came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him ... if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Luke 19:16-17





And even Paul seemed to agree with Jesus on this (sometimes).


The doers of the law shall be justified. Romans 2:13


Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:31





No, there are only two laws that you must obey.


Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.


This is the first and great commandment.





And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.





On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:37-40





No, they were only temporary.


After the birth of John the Baptist the laws no longer applied.


The law and the prophets were until John [the Baptist]: since that time the kingdom of heaven is preached. Luke 16:16


People are justfied by faith. The law doesn't matter.


Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Romans 3:28


If you've got grace, you don't need to obey the law.


Ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14


Jesus's body made you dead to God's laws.


Ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ .... We are delivered from the law, that being dead. Romans 7:4, 6


Believe in Jesus and you can ignore the law.


Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Romans 10:4


Jesus saved you from the curse of God's laws.


Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law. Galatians 3:13


The laws are were meant to teach you about Jesus. Once you believe, you can ignore the laws.


Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Galatians 3:24-25


Ignore God's law. Be led by the Spirit instead.


But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Galatians 5:18


Jesus destroyed the laws with his flesh, nailing them to his cross.


Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances. Ephesians 2:15


Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances ... nailing it to his cross. Colossians 2:14





What was Jesus's sixth commandment?


Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.


If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 19:17-19


Honour thy father and mother.


Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. Mark 10:19


There was no sixth. Jesus listed only five commandments.

To kill or not to kill.

Ecclesiastes tells us that there is a time to kill.


For everything there is a season ... a time to kill. Ecclesiastes 3:1-3


God commands us to kill certain people. Among these are witches, male homosexuals, non-virgin brides, blasphemers, sabbath breakers, and disobedient children.


Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. Exodus 22:18


If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:13





If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her ... and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid: Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city ... But if ... the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die. Deuteronomy 22:13-21





He that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him. Leviticus 24:16





Ye shall keep the sabbath ... every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death. Exodus 31:14





If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; and they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die. Deuteronomy 21:18-21





And God often killed people himself (or told others to do it for him). Here are just a few of of God's killings in the Bible.


I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. ... And all flesh died that moved upon the earth. Genesis 7:4-21


At midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon ... and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. Exodus 12:29-30





Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side ... and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor. Exodus 32:27





And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. Numbers 11:1





And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. Numbers 21:5-6





Thus saith the Lord of hosts ... go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare him not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. 1 Samuel 15:2-3





Don't Kill


Don't kill anyone for any reason.


Thou shalt not kill. Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17


Do not kill. Mark 10:19, Luke 18:20





Well, don't murder anyone, anyway.


Thou shalt do no murder. Matthew 19:18


Or kill any innocent or righteous people.


The innocent and righteous slay thou not. Exodus 23:7





Did Jesus forewarn the apostles of his death and resurrection?


Yes, he did.


From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Matthew 16:21


Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. Matthew 20:18-19





Jesus ... said unto his disciples, Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. Matthew 26:1-2

 How did Jesus respond when questioned by the high priest?


He did not answer directly.


I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said. Matthew 26:63-64


Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. Luke 22:70





He answered directly by saying, "I am."

Did Jesus drink on the cross?


Yes

Yes, Jesus went to heaven on the day of his death.


And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Luke 23:42-43


No, Jesus remained on earth after his death until his ascension.


Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John 20:17





 What were the last words of Jesus?

Did Mary Magdalene recognize Jesus when he first appeared to her?


Yes, she recognized him.

And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. John 20:14


Jesus didn't appear to her; she had a vision of angels who told her that he was alive.

But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. John 20:24

Did the eleven disciples believe the two men who claimed to see Jesus?


Yes, since he had already appeared to Simon.


And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. Luke 24:33-34


No.


After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them. Mark 16:12-13


Were the disciples frightened or glad when they saw Jesus?


They were frightened when they saw him.


But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. Luke 24:37


They were gladdened.


Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD. John 20:20





 Was it OK to touch the risen Jesus before his ascension?


Jesus didn't let people touch him before his ascension.


Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father. John 20:17


Jesus permitted people to touch him before his ascension.


And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Matthew 28:9


Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me. Luke 24:39

Does God have a body?


Yes, God has a body.


God walks and talks with a voice that can be heard.


And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. Genesis 3:8


He spoke to Moses face to face.


And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. Exodus 33:11


Which is strange since no one can see God's face and live.

God let Moses get a peek at his back parts.


And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by. And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen. Exodus 33:22-23


And he stood next to Moses on Mount Sinai.


Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone. And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there. Exodus 34:5


He told the Israelites to cover up their excrement so that he wouldn't step in it.


And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee: For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp.... Deuteronomy 23:12-13


Ezekiel saw God's loins, which appeared to be on fire.

 Where did Jesus tell his disciples to go after his resurrection?


He told them to go to Galilee.

But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. Mark 16:7





He told them to tarry in Jerusalem.


And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24:49


And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. Acts 1:4
