[:en]     A huge number of people revert to Islam every day, from all over the world, for many reasons. Everyone has his/her own special reasons which encourage him/her to become a Muslim. Here I will show you five of the most common reasons for you to recognize the beauty of Islam.

First of all, Islam is the religion of God (Allah). He sent all the Prophets and Messengers to call for monotheism and worship of God alone. Islam is the religion of Fitrah (pure innate nature). God created Fitrah in people to guide them to the worship God alone. In Qur’an -the final revelation to mankind, revealed to Prophet Muhammad- God declares Islam to be the message of all Prophets and Messengers. All of them were Muslims.

Islam: The Religion of All Prophets

All Prophets and Messengers came with Islam but with different teachings. God says to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him – PBUH):

Indeed, We have revealed to you [O Muhammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And we revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the book[of Psalms].”   [Qur’an 4-163](1)

All nations received the same message; God also says:

And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], “Worship Allah and avoid taghut (False object of worship).”   [Qur’an 16-36](2)

So, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came with the message which all Prophets Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, David, Solomon, Moses, and Jesus came with. All of them called their people to the worship of God alone, and prophesied about a messenger that comes after them; for example, Jesus says in the Qur’an:

And [mention] when Jesus the son of Mary said, “O children of Israel, Indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing a good tiding of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad (another name of Prophet Muhammad)…”   [Qur’an 61-6](3)

 Islam: The Religion of Fitrah

Abraham is the perfect example of using his Fitrah to find God. His story was told in all Divine Books (Old Testament, New Testament, and the Qur’an).

Let us take a journey with Abraham to find God. Abraham’s people and father were planetary and idol worshipers, they bowed down and were devoted to them. He asked them what do you worship?

They answered him:

We worship idols, bow down and remain devoted to them.” [Qur’an 26-71] (4)

He asked (Abraham) with pure innate nature,

Why do you supplicate to them when they can neither speak nor hear? They can neither help nor harm anything?!”

Then, they said: “We found our fathers do so.” [Qur’an 26-72:74] (5)

Abraham wanted to free his people from idol-worship and rid them of myths and legends by asking his people about these idols.

When the people of Abraham persisted on worshiping idols. Abraham wanted to prove to them in practical terms and by sensible and rational evidence, that planetary and idol worshiping could not cause harm or bring benefit. Then, Abraham decided to debate his people according to their logic and reason to prove and show them that those planets and stars are dependent creations, that possess no harm nor benefit for themselves or others. They do not have the power to give life or cause death.

Muslim Abraham Method

Abraham one night saw a planet, then he said,

…this is my lord!” But when it set, he said, “I do not like things that set.” Then, he saw the moon rising, he said, “This one is my lord!” But when it set, he said, “If my Lord does not guide me, I will surely be among the people gone astray.” [Qur’an 6-77] (6)

In the morning he saw the sun so shiny, he said,

…this my lord; this is greater.” But when it disappeared he said, “O my people surely I disown all that you worship beside God.” [Qur’an 6-78] (7)

He went to the idols and destroyed them, then left the ax in the big one’s hand. When they came and asked him,

Was it you, Abraham, who did this to our gods?”

He said: “No, it was done by the biggest of them- this one. Ask them, if they can talk!” [Qur’an 21-62] (8)

That is a demonstration that disbelief is the ultimate injustice. Shirk (the worship of anyone or anything besides God) is against the logic and Fitrah. Abraham is not actually believing in these things. He is demonstrating how silly you can be that you believe in these things.

Finally, follow the Abrahamic way of finding God. Follow your Fitrah and logic to reach the true one God. Become a Muslim.

To conclude,

there are many reasons to become a Muslim. Share with us what could be yours!

Five reasons to be a Muslim (II)

I want to be a Muslim, The Truth Becoming A Muslim, The true religion, Women in Islam Soufian Aly

The first reason why you should follow Islam is finding monotheism and following your own Fitrah. Islam is the religion of all Prophets and Messengers. Here we will discuss the second reason why you should follow Islam, which is women’s status in Islam. Maybe I can guess that I know your assumptions about women’s status in Islam. Allow me to offer you authentic information about the true status of women in Islam.

 The Woman as a Mother

Women reached the uppermost status in Islam. Islam honors women greatly. It honors woman as mother who must be respected, obeyed and treated with kindness and gentleness. Pleasing one’s mother is regarded as part of pleasing God (Allah). Islam tells us that Paradise lies at the mother’s feet, that the best way to reach Paradise is through mother. And Islam forbids disobeying mother or making her angry, even by saying a mild word of disrespect.

The mother’s rights are greater than those of the father, and the duty to take care of her grows greater as the mother grows older and weaker. All of that is mentioned in many texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah (Prophetic teaching by Prophet Muhammad PBUH).

For example; God says in Qur’an:

And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment…” [Qur’an 46: 15] (1)

this order is repeated several times to emphasize on the status of mother.  The order of enjoining man to be dutiful and kind to his parents comes, directly, after the decree of worship God alone.

God  says in Qur’an:

And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.” [Qur’an 17: 23] (2)

One of the rights which Islam gives to the mother is that her son should spend on her if she needs that support, so long as he is able and can afford it. Hence for many centuries it was unheard of among the people of Islam for a mother to be left in an old-people’s home or for a son to kick her out of the house, or for her sons to refuse to spend on her, or for her to need to work in order to eat and drink if her sons were present.

Woman as a Wife

Also; Islam raises women’s status as wives. It urges the husband to treat his wife in a good, tolerance and kind manner, and says that the wife has rights over the husband like his rights over her, but he has a degree over her, because of his responsibility of taking care of the family’s affairs.

Islam confirms that the best of the Muslims is the one who treats his wife in the best and tolerant manner.  Also; man is forbidden to take his wife’s money without her approval.

God says and order:

and live with them in kindness…” [Qur’an 4:19] (3)

Woman as a Daughter

Islam honors women as daughters, and encourages us to raise them well and educate them. Islam states that raising daughters will bring a great reward. For example, the Prophet (PBUH) said:

He, who brought up two girls properly till they grew up, he and I would come (together) (very closely) on the Day of Resurrection, and he interlaced his fingers (for explaining the point of nearness between him and that person).” (Sahih Muslim) (4)

These are some of the qualities of women in Islam. And a form of honoring Woman in Islam.
