I Saw God
The Five Words, The Truth Atheist, The Creator Randa Hussein
Are you ready to move beyond your belief in God?
In 1959, during the BBC Face to Face interview with the well known psychologist Carl Jung, John Freeman the interviewer asked him, “Do you believe in God?” Jung kept silent for a while and then he replied:
I do not need to believe, I know.”
His reply caused some furor at the time and, in decades since, it has been quoted by many, such as Richard Dawkins who cited it as an example of blind faith. However, Freeman’s questioning had worked as intended. What came into Jung’s mind was not an oddball answer, but exactly the same answer that he had given in a newspaper interview four years earlier:
All that I have learned has led me step by step to an unshakable conviction of the existence of God. I only believe in what I know. And that eliminates believing. Therefore I do not take his existence on belief – I know that he exists.” (Sands 1955, p. 6).
Believing in God Vs. Knowing God
Believing in God and knowing God are two totally different experiences. When you know God, you have a direct experience with the love, power, mercy, and wisdom that God has. You know that God is the creative intelligence of the universe and that it is impossible for God not to be here for you. You know God when your heart is open to learning about love and truth.
Types of Knowledge of God
Knowledge of God are two types; the first type is the knowledge of approval that includes all people: the obedient to God and the sinner, the believer and the disbeliever, even the atheist and the skeptic have a knowledge of God and know in their hearts that God exists. Each human being knows that there is a god and a creator to this world even Satan admitted and swore by Him [Iblees] “By your might, I will surely mislead them all.” (Quran.com/38/82).
The second type is the knowledge that makes us glorify Him, fear him, be thankful, get closely attached to Him and escape from the whole world and turn to Him.
The 3 Sources of Knowing God
First way is to know God through the miracle of the universes and His creation. God shows us many miracles that tells us about His ultimate power and infinite authority. Proofs that God do exist is obvious to us in our surroundings. Anyone with an open heart and mind will quickly acknowledge that He is there, provided that he is not stubborn or arrogant to see the truth. Actually, we don’t have to see an artist to recognize a painting. So, if we see paintings without seeing artists painting them, in the same way, we can believe Allah created everything without having to see Him (or touch, or hear, etc..).
His revelation and messengers: Allah Almighty has sent down revelations and messengers to give us clear evidence that He exists and most importantly to act properly after this realization by submitting to Him. God has sent Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and finally Muhammad to convey one message; “Our Lord and your Lord is indeed God, the One and Only God.” Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is the last messenger of Allah, and he was sent to all mankind. Allah sent him with a number of miracles, and the greatest of them is “The Quran”. The Quran is the best of proofs for the existence of Allah and today over one and half billion people memorize and recite from the exact text, in the exact same language it was revealed in; Arabic. More than 10 million Muslims have completely memorized the entire Quran from cover to cover, and can recite it from memory without looking at it. In addition, the Quran (Koran, the book of Islam) contains scientific knowledge that could not have been known 1400 years ago. It ranges from basic arithmetic to the most advanced topics in astrophysics. You are invited to go through those miracles and judge for yourself.
Our Minds & sense: Rule in Islam is no authentic Islamic text would come against a straight mind.
Knowing God is a huge comfort. Knowing that I am a co-creator with the creative force of the universe is deeply empowering. Knowing that God, the creative intelligence of the universe, is responsive to my thoughts and feelings is deeply motivating regarding keeping thoughts and feelings on what is in the highest good and the highest good of all. Allah Almighty said in Quran:
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?” (Quran.com/41/53).
Finally, have you ever thought of knowing God? Have you ever tried to see Him? Have you ever communicated with Him? Searching for a way to have a direct and personal experience with God is an amazing journey.
