Sense of Security
Omnia Khaled
How many times did you feel unsafe? How often did you feel threatened, afraid, scared, or unbalanced? did you frequently ask yourself why all these bad things happened?! Will I ever have any everlasting sense of security? Why me? Definitely, you’ve asked these, maybe thousands of times, as you live in such a world of insecurity. Actually, many people are trying to find a sense of security in money, love, work, family, health…etc. Did they really get it or they are just pretending?
For me, I have been searching for the sense of security in many things but I found it only in one thing. Let’s figure it out!
How to attain security?
I was spending my day and night thinking deeply about the reason of being here. Finally, I came to the conclusion that I am not here to be tortured. The creator created me for a reason and He is the ever-knowing. Probably, my ignorance and my shallow mind make me skeptical.Though, the authentic truth is that everything happen to me is the best ever. In short, trusting God’s wisdom gives you a sense of security.
Put your trust in God!
These are not my words! Actually, He told us to do so. He promised support, success and all good in life to the one who put his/her trust in Him. Read His words and feel them:
And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.” [Qur’an 33-3](1)
Say, Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.” [Qur’an 9-129](2)
It is You we worship and You we ask for help.” [Qur’an 1-5](3)
Blessing in disguise (First story):
One of the stories that really touched me and brought me closer to a sense of security was the story of the messenger Noah. Noah is considered one of the messengers that bore too many burdens to convey the message of God. As, he experienced a lot of calamities. Even though, he was never in doubt that good must come at the end and what may seem evil is pure goodness. Truly, he put his trust in God and never complained. Even though, when God ordered him to start to build the ship, he never asked why! For one thing, he knew that it was for a certain reason that would be revealed at the perfect moment. But the people in his country started to make fun of him. For, building a ship in a place where there was no river or sea. Indeed, it seemed crazy to his people. Whereas, he was never in doubt. Meanwhile, when the flood hit the country, everything seemed clear. Finally, all realized that the ship was built to save those who believed.
Second story:
Also, the story of lady Mary affected me so much. Her pregnancy without a man seemed like a shame. Look how Qur’an described the situation:
Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, ‘O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.(27) O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste.’ (28) So she pointed to him. They said, ‘How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?’ (29) [Jesus] said, ‘Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.(30)” [Qur’an 19-27:30](4)
look how it seemed at the beginning like a scandal but we come to know that it was God’s well to make Jesus a miracle that, till now, people know by heart.
Conclusion
In summary, You have the right to grief but don’t let it turn to dissatisfaction. Yes, you may be in trials and calamities but be sure that God always does the best for you.
When you are dominated with insecurity, then, the only thing to do is to return to God who created you. Indeed, He is the Merciful! Thus, trust that whatever happens is the best ever.
The best saying I want to conclude with is:
‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said: ” I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: ‘If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He is due, you would be given provision like the birds: They go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening.’ ” [At-Tirmidhi](5)
