Who taught you that you are a Christian ?

Christ or the Church Councils ?

Have you ever stopped and asked yourself this simple question… Who taught me that I am a Christian ?

Did Christ himself teach that ?

Or is the creed I believe in today something formulated after him in the halls of councils by the command of emperors ?

Let's set emotion aside for a moment, and ask sincerely, as a seeker of truth, not of inherited tradition :

What did Christ actually teach ?

And when did

 " Christianity " appear as a religion ?

 1. Christ Never Said He Was a " Christian "

Christ, peace be upon him, never uttered the word " Christianity " once in all the Gospels. In fact, there was no religion by this name at all during his time.

The term ' Christian ' is not used in any context that would attribute it to Jesus or to God.

There is no reliable evidence that Christ ever mentioned the word

 ' Christian '.

The word " Christian " first appeared in Antioch around 43 AD

( Acts 11 : 26 ), decades after Christ, in the city of Antioch, while Christ lived in Palestine. It was not a term of praise but a sarcastic, contemptuous label used by pagans for the followers of Jesus, as mentioned by Eusebius of Caesarea in his Ecclesiastical History.

Christ himself said clearly :

" I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. "

( Matthew 15 : 24 )

Meaning he did not come to establish a new religion, but to reform the Children of Israel and call them to worship the One God as stated in the Torah.

 2. Christ Did Not Write the Four Gospels

Did you know that Christ did not write any Gospel, nor did he ask anyone to write about him ?

The word " Gospel " in the original Greek, Evangelion, means

" Good News " or " Glad Tidings," and is not the name of a specific book.

All the Gospels we have today ( Matthew, Mark, Luke, John ) were written decades after Christ's ascension, in Greek, a language neither Christ nor his disciples spoke, as their language was Aramaic.

American scholar Bart Ehrman, a professor of Textual Criticism at the University of North Carolina, confirms :

" The gospels were written by anonymous authors who were not eyewitnesses to the events ."

In fact, the earliest existing manuscripts of the Gospels do not date back to the time of Christ, but to the 4th century AD – more than three hundred years after the events !

 3. The Christian Doctrines of Today Were Not Spoken by Christ

Ponder this question sincerely :

Did Christ ever say clearly :

" I have come to be crucified for your sins "?

The answer : He never said it. Christ never stated in the four Gospels, not even once, that he came to be crucified to atone for sins.

He never stated in any place that he was the

" Son of God " in the sense of a God to be worshipped,

Nor did he say he came to atone for the sins of humanity,

He did not speak of

" Original Sin ,"

Nor of the " Trinity " that the Church promotes today.

Rather, he said with unambiguous clarity :

" Now this is eternal life : that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent ." ( John 17 : 3 )

So he was a sent prophet, not a God to be worshipped.

As for the doctrine of the Trinity, it was born at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, by order of the Roman Emperor Constantine, who was not a believer in Christianity but in paganism, and wanted to unite the empire under one creed.

He summoned the bishops and forced them to affirm the divinity of Christ despite the refusal of many of them.

Those who opposed were exiled, and those who held firm to monotheism were killed.

Then years later, at the Council of Constantinople in 381 AD, the " Holy Spirit " was added as a third God, thus completing the Trinity as taught today.

And so the creed was established by a political decision, not by divine revelation.

 4. The Lord's Prayer… Is Not the Prayer of Christ

Christ did not teach people to recite specific words, but taught them to pray to God in prostration and submission.

The Gospels say :

" He went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed ."

( Matthew 26 : 39 )

" Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only. " ( Matthew 4 : 10 )

The true religion of Christ is: Worship of the One, Unique God without partners.

This is the method of prayer known to Muslims today :

Purification and ablution, then bowing and prostrating to God alone.

As for the well-known Lord's Prayer today

( Our Father in heaven....), it is a text whose narration differs between Matthew and Luke, and Mark and John do not mention this prayer in their Gospels.

Some ancient manuscripts omit parts of it,leading scholars to doubt its origin.

And Christ, according to the law he followed, used to purify himself with water before prayer, as in Exodus 30 : 17-21, where God commands Moses that the priests must wash their hands and feet before prayer.

This is exactly what Muslims do today in their ablution ( Wudu ).

 5. The True Christ

Christ was not a God, but a prophet from among the prophets of God.

" Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them ." ( Matthew 5 : 17 )

He came with the eternal message of Monotheism :

" The Lord our God, the Lord is one ."

 ( Mark 12 : 29 )

He called people to worship God alone, not to worship himself.

He did not seek worldly glory, but said :

" My glory is from the One who sent me."

 ( John 8 : 54 )

The true Christ is a servant of God and His messenger, not the Son of God.

A prophet who called to the worship of the One God,like Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Muhammad, peace be upon them all.

 6. How Did the Message of Christ Turn into Christianity ?

After Christ's ascension, his earliest followers remained in Jerusalem, adhering to the Mosaic Law, fasting and praying in the Temple. They were known as " Nazarenes " or " Monotheists ," and did not call themselves

" Christians ."

However, after the emergence of Paul of Tarsus, who never saw Christ nor heard from him directly – and there is no text in the four Gospels where Christ explicitly states that he sent Paul as his messenger – Paul began teaching doctrines that Christ never uttered.

He mixed them with Greek philosophy and the beliefs of pagans, such as the worship of a savior god who dies for the people – an idea taken from ancient Roman religions ( Dionysus, Mithras, Adonis, etc .).

Thus, the pure message of Christ was transformed into a new religion formulated by Paul, later solidified by emperors and councils, and it came to be called

" Christianity ," while the original religion of Christ – the religion of Monotheism, worship of God, and following His commandments – was lost.

 7. Conclusion from an Islamic Perspective

Islam is not a new religion, but the natural continuation of the call of all the prophets, from Adam to Noah, from Abraham to Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, peace be upon them all.

It is the only religion that has preserved the form of worship as God intended it :

· Purification and ablution before prayer.

· Standing, bowing, and prostrating to God alone.

· Sincere worship without intermediaries or partners.

God says in the Holy Quran :

" 25) And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed  to him that, ―There is no deity except Me, so worship Me ."

 ( Quran 21 : 25 )

And He also says :

" Indeed, the religion in the sight of God is Islam ." ( Quran 3 : 19 )

Christ used to prostrate to God. Do you prostrate as he prostrated ?

He used to say " My God and your God. " Do you worship him as he worshipped Him ?

✦ Reflect… Before You Close the Page

Pause with yourself for a moment, away from inherited tradition and emotion.

Ask God, who created you, created Christ, and all the prophets, to guide you to the truth as it is, not as you inherited or heard it.

Christ said while prostrating to God :

" Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done ." ( Luke 22 : 42 )

Do you see that he was worshipping himself ?

Or was he worshipping God who is in heaven ?

Follow the prophet of God as he prayed and prostrated, not as the councils shaped his image.

Seek guidance sincerely,and say :

" O Allah, show me the truth as truth and grant me the ability to follow it, and show me falsehood as falsehood and grant me the ability to avoid it ."

✦ A Call of Love from the Heart of Islam to the Followers of Christ

O you who love Christ…

We love him too.In fact, we love him as God willed him to be loved: a noble, pure prophet, supported by revelation and the Holy Spirit.

Islam did not nullify the message of Christ; rather, it completed it, restoring it to its origin : the worship of the One God without partners.

And Christ in Islam is the Word of God and His Spirit, and God will return him to Earth in the latter days to proclaim the truth that was obscured : that God is One without partner, and that all worship directed to other than Him is invalid.

So follow the true Christ, not the image fabricated by Paul and the councils.

And follow the final Prophet Muhammad ﷺ,who came with the same message that Christ came with :

" Worship God, my Lord and your Lord ."

✦ The Decision is in Your Hands

Now, after you have heard the voice of truth, the path before you is clear :

Either you follow a religion formulated by councils,or you follow the religion of God which He revealed to all His prophets.

The religion of prostrating to God alone, the religion of Islam.

If Christ returned today, would he pray before images and statues ?

Or would he prostrate to God on the ground as he did in the past ?

You know the answer in your heart.

Take the step, and say from the depths of your soul :

" I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ."

This is how you return to the true path of Christ… the path of Islam, the religion of the One God, the religion of all the prophets.
