The one who meditates on the Quran will find a strong rebuttal against those who claim that Allah has a son.

When we read in Surah Maryam,

"And they said, 'The Most Merciful has taken a son...'” 19:88 ▶️ it is a single phrase, but it has a significant impact on the universe!!

{19,89-92}

{You have done an atrocious thing.The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation. That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.}{19,89-92}

❓ *Why is attributing a son to Allah, the Exalted, one of the gravest sins?*

⬅️ Because it relates to two main principles:

● The first principle: It is a fabrication against Allah without knowledge, a lie and slander against Him.

⇠ Speaking about Allah without knowledge and lying about Him is one of the gravest sins, which the Quran warns against repeatedly. Allah, the Exalted, said:

❍ {They have said, Allāh has taken a son. Exalted is He; He is the [one] Free of need. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. You have no authority for this [claim]. Do you say about Allāh that which you do not know?.Say, Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allāh will not succeed.} [10:68-69]

❍ {And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allāh a lie...?} [6:21]

❍ {And to warn those who say, Allāh has taken a son.They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie.} [18:4-5]

❍ {Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,.Allāh has begotten, and indeed, they are liars..} [37:151-152]

● The second principle: It is a deficiency that is not befitting the perfection of Allah, the Exalted.

⇠ We always find in the Quran expressions of glorification and sanctification in this context.

Allah, the Exalted, said:

❍ {It is not [befitting] for Allāh to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, Be, and it is..} [19:35]

Why do we find attributing a son to Allah to be a severe deficiency regarding the Sovereign, Glorified and Exalted?*

⇠ For three reasons:

➊ Because it is a reproach against divinity.

"Allah said in a sacred hadith: 'The son of Adam insults Me, and it is not fitting for him to insult Me. He denies Me, and it is not fitting for him to deny Me. As for his insult against Me, it is his saying: "I have a son." I am Allah, the One, the Eternal Refuge. I have not begotten, nor have I been begotten, and there is none comparable to Me.'"

⇠ A son is part of his father, similar to him, and has some of his attributes. If Allah had a son, that son would possess some divine attributes and would be worthy of worship for his divinity. That is why the noble verse states: {Say, 'If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of the worshippers.'} According to one interpretation, if I had a son, he would be deserving of worship, and I would be a worshipper of him, thus making the association of a son with Allah a wide door to polytheism!!

⇠ That is why Christians have found no choice but to worship Jesus when they made him a son.

⇠ And the polytheists, when they made angels the daughters of Allah, also fell into polytheism.

⇠ This is one of the greatest reasons why the word 'Allah has a son' is so abhorrent!

⇠ Therefore, Allah combines in the Quran His sanctification from having a son and His exclusivity in worship: {...Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He that He would have a son...}

⇠ One who takes a son for Allah makes partners with Allah, Exalted is He. Whoever makes a partner for Allah must inevitably appeal to and rely on beings other than Allah.

➋ Because it is a reproach against lordship.

⇠ One of the most specific attributes of the Lord is His uniqueness in creation, His uniqueness in kingship, and His uniqueness in management.

⇠ If He had a son, the son would share in the management of affairs, the creation of beings, and the sovereignty of the kingdom and the disposition of ownership. Thus, the verses mention their associating partners with Him in lordship, as Allah, the Exalted, said:

❍ {Say, [O Muḥammad], If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his]worshippers..Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe..} [43:81-82]

❍ {They say, Allāh has taken a son. Exalted is He! Rather, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. All are devoutly obedient to Him.} [2:116]

❍ {And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant..} [19:92-93]

⇠ It is remarkable that the name of Allah as the Creator of the heavens and the earth appears in the Quran only twice in the context of refuting those who claim that Allah has a son.

⇠ The Creator, who comes and forms things without a prior example! It is as if the Sovereign, Exalted, is saying to you: how can you say He has a son when He is the Creator, who made things without a prior model for them? If He had a son… He would also create the son and form him without a prior example.

Because it is a reproach against His names and attributes.

⇠ Because the names of Allah, exalted and beautiful, their attributes reach perfection.

⇠ Thus, whoever attributes a son to Allah is in serious danger because if Allah had a son, that son would be similar to his father in some attributes, and therefore (there is nothing like Him).

❔❓ *Do we understand why the universe changes?*

Because the entire system of names and attributes crumbles, the system of monotheism and lordship collapses, and the system of uniqueness in hearts deteriorates.

• (If Allah had a son, then that son would not be subservient to servitude, and thus Allah would not be sovereign over all things because the Sovereign is overpowering over all besides Him.

• If Allah had a son, then that son would not be owned by Allah, and thus Allah would not be the owner of all things.

• If Allah had a son who shares in divinity, then Allah would not be One and Unique, nor would He remain alone. Allah, the Exalted, said:

{Everyone upon it [i.e., the earth] will perish,And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor..} [55:26-27]

• If Allah had a son, then Allah would not be the First and the Last.

• If Allah had a son, then He would not be alone as the Eternal Refuge to whom all creatures turn.

• If Allah had a son, then He would not be the All-Knowing of everything.

• If Allah had a son, then He would not be the All-Powerful over everything......)

⇠ Attributing a son to Allah is a fall into a bottomless pit and a gateway to an endless diminishment of the Great God.

Allah, the Exalted, said:

❍ {And say, Praise to Allāh, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with [great] glorification.'} [17:111]
