Coronavirus – An Islamic Perspective
No one will die before or after the time that Allah has set already. Allah said : Allah said :This epidemic – COVID19- , whatever the cause was , started by Allah's will. If Allah did not allow , it would not occur.
Allah said: "His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is."( Noble Quran 36:82 )
When someone caught that virus, no one would save him but Allah. Allah said: " And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, " Allah ." Say, "Then have you considered what you invoke besides Allah ? If Allah intended me harm, are they removers of His harm; or if He intended me mercy, are they withholders of His mercy?" Say, "Sufficient for me is Allah ; upon Him [alone] rely the [wise] reliers." ( Quran 39:38)
Taking the right precautions to avoid such diseases is undoubtedly useful. Allah's preparing for that hated and fatal disease is not lack of wisdom whether we knew that wisdom or not. The secret of that wisdom is mainly to test people's faith in times of weal and woe, Allah said: "Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned."(Quran: 21:35)
The goal of such bad destiny is to make people repent of their sins and misdeeds . Most good times are full of inattention and negligence so that Allah knows those who disobey him at those times , Allah said: "And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah ]. Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive" (Quran 7: 94,95)
They got themselves engaged in joys of life and forgot the times of misery . They added to that negligence that they dared to disobey Allah. If people obey their lord ( Allah ), he will ,generously, give those who obey. Allah said: "And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning."(Quran 7: 96)
The biggest catastrophe in human beings life is the negligence of Allah's orders. They neither regret their mistakes nor get afraid of Allah's punishment. Allah said: "Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play? Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah ? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people. Has it not become clear to those who inherited the earth after its [previous] people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins? But We seal over their hearts so they do not hear. Those cities - We relate to you, [O Muhammad], some of their news. And certainly did their messengers come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before. Thus does Allah seal over the hearts of the disbelievers"(Quran 7: 97- 101)
The biggest people's negligence is to be aware of life , which is concrete , and ignore the abstract Hereafter. Allah said: " but most of the people do not know. They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware.Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers. Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves." ( Quran 30 :6-9)
This epidemic –COVID19- occurred due to people's misdeeds and disobeying Allah's orders. It is a big ignorance to doubt that truth. It is clearly shown when Adam was got out of paradise due to disobeying Allah's order.
"And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers." But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, "Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time." ( Quran 2 :35-36)
When people see those who commit obscenities with no condemnation, curse and severe anger of Allah will be upon them all. Allah said: " Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of Dâwûd (David) and ‘Îsâ (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). That was because they disobeyed (Allâh and the Messengers) and were ever transgressing beyond bounds. - They used not to forbid one another from Al-Munkar (wrong, evil-doing, sins, polytheism, disbelief) which they committed. Vile indeed was what they used to do). Disobeying ,by itself alone, is not as harmful as when it is accompanied by obduracy and stubbornness . Allah said : "Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue of David and of Jesus, the son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed. They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing." (Quran 5: 78-79)
Allah said : "And of the people is he whose speech pleases you in worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to what is in his heart, yet he is the fiercest of opponents. And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals. And Allah does not like corruption. And when it is said to him, "Fear Allah," pride in the sin takes hold of him. Sufficient for him is Hellfire, and how wretched is the resting place."(Quran 2: 204-206)
As Evil ( Satan ) is an enemy of people, they must disobey him. On the other hand , they must obey , love and worship Allah. Allah said: "Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze." (Quran 35: 6)
Allah is above the sky but can see those who disobey him . He can see those who worship a creature and ignore the Creator. As Allah's blessings come down, people's misdeeds go up. He created them but they worshipped another and he gave them but they thanked someone else. Oh Allah ! how patient you are ! Allah said: " Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive? Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure? Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]? But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful. Have they not considered what things Allah has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah, while they are humble. (Quran 16: 45-48)
Allah hears those who call Jesus " son of God" Allah said: "And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son." You have done an atrocious thing. The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation. That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son. And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son. There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant. He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting. And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone." (Quran 19: 88-95)
When Allah gave The Jews a good land( Jerusalem ) and asked them to eat from its good production and bow while entering that land saying " Hitta" = remove i.e. O' Allah remove our sins ( forgive us ) , they dared to enter crawling on their buttocks saying "Hinta" instead of "Hitta" . Consequently, Allah's curses and anger were upon them. Allah said : "And [recall] when We said, "Enter this city and eat from it wherever you will in [ease and] abundance, and enter the gate bowing humbly and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens.' We will [then] forgive your sins for you, and We will increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]." But those who wronged changed [those words] to a statement other than that which had been said to them, so We sent down upon those who wronged a punishment from the sky because they were defiantly disobeying." (Quran 2: 58-59)
Allah can hear those atheists who dare to misevaluate the strength of Allah the almighty as they misevaluate the weakness of themselves. Allah said: "O people, an example is presented, so listen to it. Indeed, those you invoke besides Allah will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered together for that purpose. And if the fly should steal away from them a [tiny] thing, they could not recover it from him. Weak are the pursuer and pursued. They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might." (Quran 22: 73- 74)
The biggest misevaluation of Allah the almighty is to worship other than him like Jesus the Christ , idols , graves or dead people. Those are gentile and wrongful people. Allah said: " Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs. To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And they who disbelieve in the verses of Allah - it is those who are the losers. Say, [O Muhammad], "Is it other than Allah that you order me to worship, O ignorant ones?" And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate [anything] with Allah, your work would surely become worthless, and you would surely be among the losers." Rather, worship [only] Allah and be among the grateful. They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him." (Quran 39: 62-67)
Injustice is an unforgivable misdeed. Killing the innocents ,especially the weak ones, is an unforgivable misdeed. The unjust dominating of strong people upon weak ones , displacing them from their homes and exploiting poor people in unfair usurious benefits are unforgivable misdeeds. Allah said: "And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly - We have given his heir authority, but let him not exceed limits in [the matter of] taking life. Indeed, he has been supported [by the law]. And do not approach the property of an orphan, except in the way that is best, until he reaches maturity. And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned. And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even balance. That is the best [way] and best in result. And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned. And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height. All that - its evil is ever, in the sight of your Lord, detested." (Quran 17:32-38)
Arrogance, vanity and overconfidence are causes of letting down as Allah sets what is opposite to their expectations. Allah makes them see their weakness in order to give up. Then, their only wish would be to survive , forgetting what they were planning to do . As Allah said about Karun : "Indeed, Qarun was from the people of Moses, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him, "Do not exult. Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant. But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters." He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him of generations those who were greater than him in power and greater in accumulation [of wealth]? But the criminals, about their sins, will not be asked. So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qarun. Indeed, he is one of great fortune." But those who had been given knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of Allah is better for he who believes and does righteousness. And none are granted it except the patient." And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home. And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor was he of those who [could] defend themselves." (Quran 28: 76-81)
The arrogance of Pharaoh faded away as he saw the truth. Allah said: "And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims." Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters? So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless" (Quran 10:90-92)
Repentance should be s and Allah accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness : "The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise. But repentance is not [accepted] of those who [continue to] do evil deeds up until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "Indeed, I have repented now," or of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment."(Quran 4:17-18)

And said:"Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, "This is from Allah "; and if evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you." Say, "All [things] are from Allah ." So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement?(Quran 4:78)
Death cannot be avoided by precautions. Allah said: "Have you not considered those who left their homes in many thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die"; then He restored them to life. And Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude.(Quran 2: 243)
Although it has different reasons, death is the same. And the catastrophe that might be faced after death is bigger than the death itself . Allah said:
"And if you are killed in the cause of Allah or die - then forgiveness from Allah and mercy are better than whatever they accumulate [in this world]. And whether you die or are killed, unto Allah you will be gathered." (Quran 3:157-158).

But repentance is not [accepted] of those who [continue to] do evil deeds up until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "Indeed, I have repented now," or of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment."(Quran 4:17-18)
No one will die before or after the time that Allah has set already. Allah said : "And it is not [possible] for one to die except by permission of Allah at a decree determined. And whoever desires the reward of this world - We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter - We will give him thereof. And we will reward the grateful."(Quran 3:145)
And said:"Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, "This is from Allah "; and if evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you." Say, "All [things] are from Allah ." So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement?(Quran 4:78)
Death cannot be avoided by precautions. Allah said: "Have you not considered those who left their homes in many thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die"; then He restored them to life. And Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude.(Quran 2: 243)
Although it has different reasons, death is the same. And the catastrophe that might be faced after death is bigger than the death itself . Allah said:
"And if you are killed in the cause of Allah or die - then forgiveness from Allah and mercy are better than whatever they accumulate [in this world]. And whether you die or are killed, unto Allah you will be gathered." (Quran 3:157-158).
