Former NBA Star Converts to Islam





American former professional basketball player Stephen Jackson has converted to Islam, following the steps of other athletes who joined the fastest growing religion in the world.





“Alhamdulilah. @tonetrump cant say how I appreciate u Ahki. Today was one of the best days of my life. Love for all who have love for all  meed_al_aneeq thank u for your time and knowledge u dropped on me today. Honored to meet the brothers today,” Jackson wrote on Instagram.





He also shared a video for the moment he takes the shahada or Islamic declaration of faith last January 6.








The 42-old retired in 2015 after fourteen years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the New Jersey Nets, Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Bobcats, San Antonio Spurs, and Los Angeles Clippers.





He won an NBA championship with the Spurs in 2003.

Jackson’s announcement was welcomed by many of his fans.





“I to have recently accepted Islam May Allah guide us on this new journey with open hearts and clearer minds Alhamdulillah,” one wrote.





“Welcome home my brother indeed Allah guide whom he wills alhamdulilah,” another added.





By converting to Islam, Jackson joined many athletes who took the decision in recent years.





In November 2020, Dutch boxer Ruby Jesiah Mesu announced converting to Islam on her official social media account, after practicing the faith for years.





A few months earlier in April 2020, Wilhelm Ott also announced that he has converted to Islam. Ott is a professional MMA (Mix Martial Arts) fighter from Austria.





Legendary American basketballer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also converted to Islam in 1968, before he entered the NBA.
