Muslims believe that Islam has existed since the beginning of time and that it is the natural religion of mankind, The Pure Monotheism; to which all people are called when they are born in the world. In this sense, in fact, all people are actually born Muslim.
Judaism and Christianity
Islam accords to these two religions special status. First, each of them is the religion of God. Their founders on earth, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, are the prophets of God.
What they have conveyed — the Torah, the Psalms, the Evangel (gospels) — are revelations from God. To believe in these prophets, in the revelations they have brought, is integral to the very faith of Islam. To disbelieve in them, nay to discriminate among them, is apostasy. “…We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one…” quran.com/29/46, God described His Prophet Muhammad and his followers as “…and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in God and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers…” quran.com/2/285
Islam is really simple. It is we who make it complicated. Muslims believe that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad -Peace & Mercy Be Upon Him- is His final Messenger. That message, and the one it was revealed to, are mercy to the whole mankind. All the other teaching and beliefs are simply a way of explaining this central truth.
In the same way, there are no myths or symbols on Islam. In Islam there are neither priests, not pops, nor any people who mediate between God and man. In such a simple religion, then, where people directly speak to Allah (i.e The One God) there is no need for mysterious symbols or for myths that need to be interpreted by professional religion people.
At the end of their life, each Muslim will have to give an answer to Allah Almighty for the way that life was lives. There will be no persists to intercede for them on that day, or absolve them sins. On the contrary, through out his life, a Muslim will speak to Allah each day, asking that his sins and mistakes be forgiven and that he would be given the strength to live as a good Muslim and be rewarded with paradise.
Muslims derive all their knowledge about Allah and how best to serve Him and please Him, by reading the Quran and by learning from the life and the example of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Muslims believe that all formers prophets, such as Moses, David, Abraham, Solomon, and Jesus -peace be upon them all- were all prophets of Islam, since they called mankind to worship One God, but prophet Muhammad -pbuh- was God’s final Messengers and it was to him that God revealed the Holy Quran.
Many of the stories found in the original Torah and Gospel can be found in the Holy Quran, because they, too, were given revelation. Muslims take a great comfort, though, in knowing that the Quran we have today is exactly the same Quran revealed to Muhammad and that not one word of it has been altered or lost in translation over fourteen centuries. Unlike the fate of the other divinely revealed books, which are now very different to what was originally revealed.
Muslims respect there other divine books and have great respect for other faiths, but see that the Quran is the final massage, indented for all people and for all time, and that Islam is the religion for the whole of manking.
Evidently, Islam has given the maximum that can ever be given to another religion. It has acknowledged as true the other religion’s prophets and founders, original scriptures and teaching. Islam has declared its God and the God of the religions of Jews and Christians as One and the same. It has declared the Muslims the assistants, friends, and supporters of the adherents of the other religions, under God.
If, after all this, differences persist, Islam holds them to be of no consequence. Such differences must not be substantial. They can be surmounted and resolved through more knowledge, good will, and wisdom. Islam treats them as domestic disputes within one and the same religious family. And as long as we both recognize that God alone is Lord to each and every one of us, no difference and no disagreement is beyond solution.
Our religious, cultural, social, economic, and political differences may all be composed under the principle that God alone — not any one of us, not our passions, our egos, or our prejudices — is God.
