No one loves to hear your voice or to hear you asking for all your needs from Him more than your Creator and Sustainer, Allah Almighty. He loves hearing your supplication.

A poet once said:

Do not ask the son of Adam for your needs,

and ask The One whose doors never close.

Allah gets angry if you quit asking Him,

while the son of Adam gets angry if you persistently ask him.

Allah never gets angry or tired even if you ask Him one million times a day.

I’ve seen a loving father who actually got annoyed and angry with his child because the child kept asking for so many things. Even the loving father or mother won’t be able to handle you persistently asking them for your every need daily.  But Allah is not like anyone else. Allah literally wants us to ask Him for everything, all the time.

Allah says that if we didn’t call upon Him, He wouldn’t have cared for us.

Say, “What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?”” ( Quran 25: 77) [1]

And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said:

Let one of you ask his Lord for his every need, until he asks Him for salt, and asks Him for the strap of his sandal when it breaks.” [Jami`at-Tirmidhi] [2]

So in this article we’ll share eight beautiful Quranic verses and Prophetic Hadiths about the power and beauty of Dua’ (supplication) in Islam

1-  Allah is always near and always responds

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.” (Qur’an 2: 186)  [3]

2- Calling upon Allah is an indication of worshipping Him without arrogance

And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.” (Qur’an 40:60) [4]

3- Call upon Allah privately with no barriers or intermediaries

Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors. And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good.” (Qur’an 7: 55-56) [5]

4- Anyone else you’ll rely on or ask will eventually die

Yes, definitely, and their help will end. But Allah is The Only Ever-Living, so rely on Him alone.

He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds.” (Qur’an 40: 65) [6]

5- Even if you ask a billion times a day

God loves us, even asking billion times a day, nothing is dearer to Allah than hearing supplications.

Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,

Nothing is dearer to Allah than supplication.” (AL Albani) [7]

6- Allah never returns hands empty

Allah never returns ANY hands empty, either He responds with what one asks for if it’s good for them, or He gives them something more beneficial to them according to His knowledge, or He protects them from something bad on account of their supplication.

Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said:

Your Rabb (Lord of the Universe) is Modest and Generous, and would never turn the hands of a slave without gain when he raises them to Him (in supplication).” (Related by the four lmams). [8]

7- Asking Allah is asking The One whose Kingdom and Possessions never decrease

In a powerful hadith, the Prophet narrates that Allah Almighty says:

O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all to stand together in one place and ask of Me, and I were to give everyone what he requested, then that would not decrease what I Possess, except what is decreased of the ocean when a needle is dipped into it.” [Muslim] [9]

8- The key is insisting & Keep patient

As long as people keep asking Allah and are patient, they’ll continue to benefit from supplicating whether spiritually due to connecting with The Peace Himself, or physically by receiving something good or preventing something bad out of their life.

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said:

The supplication of a slave continues to be granted as long as he does not supplicate for a sinful thing or for something that would cut off the ties of kinship and he does not grow impatient.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah! What does growing impatient mean?” He (ﷺ) said, “It is one’s saying: ‘I supplicated again and again but I do not think that my prayer will be answered.’ Then he becomes frustrated (in such circumstances) and gives up supplication altogether.” [Sahih Muslim] [10]

To sum up, make dua (supplication) to Allah and know you’re calling upon The Ever-Living King and Controller of all the Universe. But remember that you are asking The God, and The God is Most Knowing and Most Wise. His Mercy is not about giving us everything we want. His Mercy is about guiding us to what’s better and more beneficial to us in this life and the next. Don’t ever lose hope. Be patient and keep calling upon Allah and find solace, peace and comfort in talking privately to the All-hearing, All-Knowing King.
