Why Don’t Muslims Date?

  Summar Hamdy

She’s 40, but neither is she married nor did she ever date anyone; he’s 45, but he never had any sexual relation before. Oh wow, imagine the strength it takes to become like that! It’s a very strong will, hah!

The Heavy Pact

There are no “Casual Relationships” in Islam. In fact, marriage in Islam is called “The Heavy Pact” or “Solemn Covenant” 4:21. Touching a woman is a huge issue that takes from the man reserving her full rights. Even if the contract was written but the marriage wasn’t completed, still she has rights to be reserved. Once a man even promised a woman of engagement, he must commit. Imagine when it comes to an actual relation.

Muslims Got the Best Fertility Rates

Actually, some of the “fastest growing religions in the world” statistics about Islam suggested that Islam is spreading because of the high fertility rates, and that means healthy families that stay enough together to have more babies. That also means healthier society and a long living human race, avoiding the aging problems that European communities have that kill their industries and make them have to accept more young Muslim refugees.

Avoiding Society Agony, or a Strong Will?

For your information, some Muslim societies have traditions that go against Islam. In Arabian and Eastern societies in general, some people treat women in the sexual issues in a manner as if she’s the main problem and that is against Islam. In Islam, both genders have the same sinning punishment, and when Qur’an mentions “Adulteress” it mentions “Adulterer” in the very same position, both receive the same treatment all over Shari’ah Law! Also in Sharia Law; it’s an option for any sinner to keep silent about what happened (when it comes to sexual sinning), repent to Allah, and end the story.

For example, also, some Eastern societies give the widow a bad look when she gets married again after her husband dies, which is against Islam as well.

So, some Shari’ah rules come against some Eastern societies’ traditions, and that means that fearing Allah with a strong will wins when it comes to relationships.

Muslims have Solutions from the Religion to Survive!

Prophet Muhammad -may blessings and peace of Allah be upon him- recommended highly if you’re able to get married then do it now; but what if you can’t for any reason?. He (PBUH) said:

0 young men, those among you who can support a wife should marry, for it restrains eyes (from casting evil glances) and preserves one from immorality; but he who cannot afford It should observe fast for it is a means of controlling the sexual desire.” [Sahih Muslim]

Solutions

Lowering gaze:

It’s a huge deal to avoid looking in the first place, it takes a lot of training, maybe years until you can make it. Not looking means not thinking about it, means you could forget all about sex for long days and months, and a huge relief.

Fasting:

When you fast (the Muslim way, to stop eating and drinking from dawn to sunset), you simply restrain your desires, you control them.

Avoid mixed meetings:

Islam is actually inviting people to mix and to know each other in order to make the world a better place, but as long as you’re not married, avoid mixed –male/female- meetings and gatherings, it brings the subject up to your head again and again.

Don’t come alone in a closed place:

Office with your female assistant, no!

Studying in your room with a female colleague, no. And OF COURSE not in her room as well, smart! Avoid being alone in closed places, or opened spaces -with no one else around- with the opposite sex!

There’s nothing in the world called “Just Friends”:

It’s been subject to many studies and lab tests. Nothing is called just friends between a man and a woman, there’s always a situation of “waiting” for the chance, that’s all. Watch this video:

حقيقة الصداقة بين الرجل والمرأة - كيف يفكر الطرفان ؟

So, don’t have a long term relation with the opposite sex based on “just friends” or “just working colleagues” or “just studying group”. Furthermore, not as just a “roommate”! It’s not going to continue this way, and by a long term I mean the enough time that allows you and her/him to get too much into the other’s details, how he/she drinks coffee, how he/she itches, renting-a-house-problem he/she has in their life, which later on will just drive you to turn to be the savior!.

Both genders: Get married once you can!

The Muslim way is choosing the Heavy Pact, to feel that it’s something yours, and for you to try to make it work, instead of having whatsoever casual irresponsible inhuman relationship that leaves a woman heavy with burden without a spouse, to face the world alone with a child or face a process of abortion. Both male and female heart-breaking is a great deal.  From one relationship to another, your heart is devastating, it’s causing you to be torn apart. So, for a Muslim man/woman, it’s either to wait the hero way, or do it the straight way. After all, we’re the ones who choose to take commitments seriously, or to make huge things silly!.

For our world, for your country, for your community, for you and for your mate, take it the straight way!.
